Mission

Nothing is more beautiful or more important to each of us individually or all of us collectively than the potential of a child.  Each new generation of children holds the seed of our future world within them and they will affect the world in some way with their lives and their choices.  The Children’s Rainbow Garden Project is a community garden project that carries the vision and mission of enhanced quality of life on this planet to children and their parents.  Just as much as adults, children need to cultivate within themselves life affirming ways of experiencing and understanding their inner and outer lives in order to help them reap many years of wellbeing for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Mission:
Our Children’s Rainbow Garden focuses on the early years of development when children are so eager to learn, to begin teaching them the art of living in healthy, conscious, and sustainable ways. Through the Children’s Garden Project, adults are also supported in their role as the parents of these awesome newcomers to the world as they are offered free classes on natural gardening, composting, preserving the harvest and garden-fresh cooking.

We invite anyone and everyone in the community to join us in the garden on Wednesdays from 6pm-dusk and Saturdays from 8am to 11am.  We enjoy the experience of community gardening, sharing produce and having the opportunity to contribute to wonderful organizations that support local families.  We learn as we play--both children and adults are welcome--and no gardening experience or fees are necessary.

A portion of our produce is donated weekly to Channels Food Rescue Mission and the YWCA Women's Shelters in Harrisburg, Pa.
